Statement from Trowell Parish Council
Over the past year there has been considerable discussion about Trowell Parish Council, both within the community and on social media. Residents may have seen conflicting information about a number of Council matters, and the Council feels it is right to provide a short factual update.
The Council supports the right of residents to question, challenge and scrutinise Council decisions. However, the Council also has legal duties as an employer and as a public authority.
Following a prolonged period of ongoing issues, and after attempts to address matters through normal Council procedures, the Council sought independent legal advice. In April 2026, the Council resolved to follow that advice.
A number of information rights matters have been considered by the Information Commissioner’s Office. Several have now concluded. One matter remains before the First-tier Tribunal, so the Council will not comment further while that process is ongoing.
The Council will not engage in public debate about individual allegations, personal disputes or ongoing legal matters. Our focus remains on serving Trowell residents openly, lawfully and professionally.
Residents are encouraged to follow our Myth vs Fact series and refer to our website, agendas and minutes for factual information about Council business.
