Sharing Memories Ahead of “Maypole & Momories”

As preparations continue for Trowell’s upcoming “Maypole & Memories” celebration on Saturday 16 May, the Parish Council is encouraging residents to reflect on the memories, traditions and community spirit that make village life so special. Inspired by the spirit of the Festival of Britain, the event will celebrate both Trowell’s heritage and the importance of preserving local stories and memories for future generations. The day will include the launch of the new Trowell Time Capsule, helping capture a snapshot of village life, community activities and memories from 2026. Residents are warmly invited to attend and enjoy a relaxed community gathering featuring Morris dancers, Maypole dancing by local Brownies, traditional games, local heritage displays and a Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own picnic, refreshments and picnic blankets and enjoy time with family, friends and neighbours throughout the day. Maypole & Memories takes place on Saturday 16 May 2026 from 10.00am to 3.00pm at Trowell Parish Hall. Everyone is very welcome.
