Trowell Parish Council – Statement on FOI Activity and Online Engagement

The Council has recently experienced a surge in Freedom of Information (FOI) requests most being submitted through a third-party platform. Following an internal review and discussions with the platform, it was confirmed that multiple accounts involved in these submissions violated their house rules and have since been suspended. Their investigation also identified a coordinated pattern of activity originating from a single source.

We are aware that one FOI response was shared publicly on social media, where misleading claims were made. While we welcome transparency and constructive dialogue, we are concerned about the potential impact of coordinated misinformation on our community.

A Council meeting was held to assess the implications of this activity. We remain committed to openness and accountability, and we will continue to monitor the situation to safeguard the interests of our residents and staff.
