Who are we?
Trowell Parish Council is made up of:
Parish Councillors, who are unpaid elected representatives of the local community
Council staff, who are employed to support the work of the council and help deliver its legal duties and services
Together, councillors and staff work to manage local facilities, represent the interests of the village, and support the community.
Becoming a Parish Councillor
Parish councillors are elected to represent the local community and help make decisions on local services and priorities.
To qualify as a parish councillor, you must:
Be at least 18 years old on the day you are nominated
Be a registered local government elector for the parish, or meet the residency/work requirements
Have lived in the parish (or within 3 miles), or worked in the parish, for at least 12 months prior to nomination
Meet the legal nationality requirements to stand for local election

Disqualification from Office
A person may be disqualified from holding office as a parish councillor if they:
Hold a paid office or employment with the council
Are subject to a bankruptcy restrictions order or interim order
Have been convicted of a criminal offence and sentenced to more than three months imprisonment within the last five years
Have been found guilty of corrupt or illegal practices, or have incurred illegal expenditure while acting as a councillor
