Public Notice – Offensive Flag Displayed in Trowell

Trowell Parish Council is aware of the flag that has been placed at height near the junction of Ilkeston Road and Stapleford Road, in front of St Helen’s Church.

We understand that this has caused distress and concern among residents. Please be assured that the Parish Council has reported the matter to Nottinghamshire County Council and requested that it be treated as urgent so that the flag can be safely removed.

To be clear, the issue is not with the Union Jack flag itself, but with the offensive symbol that has been spray-painted on it. The graffiti has rendered the display inappropriate and potentially distressing to members of the public.

Due to the height and location of the flag on a busy main road, removal must be carried out by the appropriate authority using proper safety measures. We are awaiting confirmation from the County Council regarding next steps and timescales.

We thank residents who have contacted us and appreciate your patience while this matter is addressed.
