Have Your Say on the Future of Local Government in Nottingham & Nottinghamshire

A major public survey is now open on plans to reorganise local councils in our area — the biggest change to local government here in over 50 years.

All nine councils in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are working together to gather views from residents, businesses, and organisations. The results will help shape final proposals for two new ‘unitary authorities’ — single councils responsible for all local services in their area.

Two options are currently being considered:

Option 1b – Nottingham, Broxtowe & Gedling as one new council, and Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark & Sherwood, Bassetlaw & Rushcliffe as another.
Option 1e – Nottingham, Broxtowe & Rushcliffe as one new council, and Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark & Sherwood, Bassetlaw & Gedling as another.

Other ideas may still be put forward before the decision is made.

Survey closes: Sunday 14 September, 11:00 pm
Take part online: www.lgrnotts.org

Broxtowe Borough Council will also be sending printed copies of the survey (with freepost envelopes) to every household, including extra questions for Broxtowe residents.

Your views will help shape the proposals sent to Government by 28 November 2025. A final decision will be made in summer 2026.

If you need the survey in a different language or format, please contact Broxtowe Borough Council.
