Free Electric Blanket Safety Testing – 16 March 2026

Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards will be holding a free electric mattress blanket testing event for Nottinghamshire residents:

Date: Monday 16 March 2026

The testing is free of charge, and if an electric mattress blanket fails the safety test, the resident will be provided with a replacement blanket free of charge.

With rising energy costs, many people are turning to electric blankets to stay warm. However, older or low-cost electric blankets may not meet current safety standards and can pose a serious fire risk. In recent years, unsafe electric blankets have been linked to fires and fatalities within Nottinghamshire.

This event is organised by Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards as part of ongoing work to improve consumer safety.
