Together for Trowell – Responsible Dog Ownership
Trowell is a wonderful place to enjoy a walk, whether you’re out with your dog, your family or simply taking in the countryside. Our parks, footpaths and open spaces are there for everyone to enjoy.
Recent reports of a dog attack within the village are a timely reminder that we all have a part to play in keeping these shared spaces safe and welcoming.
Being a responsible dog owner means understanding your dog’s behaviour, keeping them under control and recognising that not every dog—or every person—is comfortable with close encounters. Sometimes, simply giving others a little extra space can make all the difference.
Responsible dog ownership also includes:
- Keeping dogs under effective control.
- Using a lead where appropriate.
- Cleaning up after your dog.
- Respecting other people, wildlife and livestock.
- Being mindful of children and other vulnerable users of our public spaces.
A little patience, awareness and consideration help everyone enjoy Trowell’s open spaces safely and confidently.
If you witness a dog that is dangerously out of control or have information about a serious incident, please report it to Nottinghamshire Police, who are responsible for investigating these matters. Where appropriate, concerns about dog fouling or stray dogs should be reported to Broxtowe Borough Council.
Together, we can all help keep Trowell a safe, welcoming and enjoyable place for everyone.
Thank you to the many responsible dog owners who already help make our village such a great place to live.
