Update – Offensive Flag Displayed in Trowell

Trowell Parish Council is pleased to confirm that the flag previously displayed near the junction of Ilkeston Road and Stapleford Road, in front of St Helen’s Church, has now been removed by Via East Midlands.

 

To clarify, the concern was not with the Union Jack flag itself, but with the offensive symbol that had been spray-painted onto it. The graffiti made the display inappropriate and understandably caused distress among residents.

 

We would like to thank everyone who contacted us about this matter for their understanding and patience.

 

Our thanks also go to County Councillor Jan Goold, whose support helped ensure the issue was resolved quickly.
